In the event that the death is expected and occurs
in the home the family should first contact their doctor who will issue a death
certificate. Once the doctor has been the family then contact Academy
Funerals on 07 3261 8222 your call will be answered by one of our family
members who will carefully take down all the details and assist you by guiding
you through the maze of arrangements.
If the death is unexpected immediately call 000.
The ambulance and the Police will attend. The Police will take control of the
situation and assist you in what ever way that they can. The Police will arrange
for the Government undertaker to take your loved one into the care of the Coroner.
NOTE: You are under no obligation to use the
Government Undertaker for the actual Funeral.
However, if the death occurs in a hospital or
nursing home the family should ask the staff of the establishment to contact Academy
Funerals on 07 3261 8222.
Academy
Funerals with the utmost dignity will
then effect the transfer of your loved one and take them to our safe and comfortable
facilities.
At a time that is convenient a member of our
family will call at the family home to take care of the necessary paperwork and
assist you to arrange the type of funeral that you may require. At this time the
family members are given the opportunity to choose the coffin or casket, and
which cemetery or crematorium they wish to use. This is also the time to attend
to the finer details as to whether there will be a notice published in a
newspaper. A memorial book for the mourners to leave their names; if the family
would like Academy
Funerals to arrange flowers for the occasion, or
if the family would prefer to do this themselves. Also, if there will be a
clergy or a Civil Celebrant to officiate at the ceremony. Academy
Funerals will guide the family through the many options available. However, the final choice is always left up to the family members.
One of the
important aims of Academy
Funerals is to give people the opportunity
to take as much part in the funeral as they wish. Or the option of standing back
and letting Academy
Funerals do everything for them.
At the time the funeral service is arranged the
family will be given a written contract showing the FULL cost of the funeral
including any extras that may have been requested at that time. This way
everyone knows what is happening and can be assured that no extra unnecessary
financial burden will be imposed on the family at a later date. Unless the
family request further services that had not been agreed upon when the
arrangement was made.
